VOLUNTEER POSITION GUIDE

TITLE: Library Volunteer
REPORTS TO: Librarian

Performs variety of tasks in the Marcus Research Library
greets and personally assists visitors in using the library
assists patrons in research via mail, e-mail, telephone, or in person
works on manuscript collections
prepares record groups
catalogues books, pamphlets, and periodicals
assists with exhibit research & preparation from time to time

Requirements:

• an interest in History and the Arts
• computer knowledge for some tasks
• advanced computer knowledge, i.e. Excel, scanning & editing, PDF file versatility, etc., for specialized work
  students might be especially interested here

The Society will provide on the job training

Time commitment:

• minimum four hours per month, during Museum hours: 12 Noon to 4 PM Tuesday through Saturday
