Take this opportunity to tour this world‑class museum and historic site on the Connecticut Art Trail, view a special international Impressionist exhibition, explore the Museum's scenic grounds and historic gardens, and enjoy lunch in a quintessential New England village inn.

TheFlorence Griswold Museum is a National Historic Landmark which was once home to a group of artists known as the Lyme Art Colony, widely regarded as "the home of American Impressionism." Situated along the scenic Lieutenant River, the museum is the first venue to exhibit Impressionist Giverny: American Painters in France, 1885-1915, a collection of over fifty works that convey the tale of the American artists' colony established in Giverny, France (home of Claude Monet) in the late 1800s.

The day will begin with refreshments and orientation information on the morning ride to the museum by air‑conditioned motor coach. The bus, equipped with a restroom, will depart from Stamford (from the lower level parking lot of Lord & Taylor adjacent to Long Ridge Road) at 8:30 AM for the one‑hour ride to the Museum.

At the Museum, we will view the exhibition discussed above and tour the historic Griswold Home, which is staffed with a trained guide who will give us an introduction to the site. Please note that there are steps to be navigated in the Griswold Home. We also will have some time to browse the Museum Shop and/or walk along the Museum's historic gardens and grounds, which include a riverfront gallery and a restored American Impressionist artist's studio.

Old Lyme InnAfterward, we will enjoy a three‑course luncheon (salad, choice of entrée, dessert, and beverages) at the Old Lyme Inn, located just across the street from the Museum and voted Best Overall Restaurant of 2007 for New London County by readers of Connecticut Magazine.

The bus will depart from the Inn for Stamford in the early afternoon. We expect to back in Stamford around 4:30 PM. Refreshments will be served on the ride home.

Tickets for the day (including transportation, Museum admission and guided tour, lunch, and refreshments on the bus rides) are $90 for members, $95 for non‑members.

Refunds after May 30 will be given only if you are replaced from the waiting list.
