Virginia T. Davis

Virginia Davis portrait

Virginia Davis was active in the Stamford Historical Society for many years. She served as chairwoman of the Restoration Committee of the Society's Hoyt Barnum House, and as chairwoman of the Building Survey Committee completed a Manual for Title Research in 1975. She was a trustee of the Antiquarian & Landmarks Society of Connecticut.

In her memory, The Society created the annual Virginia T. Davis, Stamford Historical Society Distinguished Service Award.

Her devotion to the City of Stamford through this organization was summed up in an Advocate editorial which said:

“She believed that a community's sense of its own history gave it a solidity and depth
that it otherwise would not have. She was right in thinking so.”
