From Picturesque Stamford 1892, pp 106, 107

Blachley Lodge, property of Mr. Timothy R. Porter, stood on Noroton Hill. The area held several large estates, including the home of Schuyler Merritt (see opposite wall) and seems to have been a fashionable location for Stamford's wealthy.
